Microsoft Defender brings together Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Defender for Identity and Defender for Cloud Apps into a single platform. Shared threat intelligence and automated analysis give far wider coverage than separate point products, across email, collaboration tools, endpoints and identities.
Defender links signals and events together to pinpoint stealthy attacks that slip past traditional defences. But out-of-the-box settings and unwatched alerts leave much of that value unused.
